What's included
A concrete patio or walkway gets the same base prep and reinforcement as a driveway, sized down to what a walking surface actually needs — compacted base, control joints, and a finish that matches how you'll use the space. Broom finish is the standard, low-cost option; exposed aggregate and integral color cost more but hold up well against high-desert sun without fading the way a surface stain can.
Slope and drainage matter as much as the finish. Every patio and walkway is graded with a slight pitch away from the house — usually a minimum of about a quarter inch of fall per foot — so water doesn't pool against the foundation or track back toward a slider door during one of our summer monsoon downpours.
How it works
Step by step, here's what actually happens on site:
- 1Walk the space with you and talk through finish, size, and how it connects to existing walkways or a future backyard remodel.
- 2Excavate and compact the base, form the pour area, and set reinforcement.
- 3Pour and finish the concrete, then cut control joints while it's still workable.
- 4Cure, then walk the finished job with you before calling it done.

What's the difference between broom finish and exposed aggregate?
Broom finish is a textured, non-slip surface swept into the wet concrete — the standard, most affordable option. Exposed aggregate exposes the decorative stone within the mix for a more textured, upscale look, and costs more in labor and material.
Can you tie a new patio into an existing slab?
Yes — we saw-cut and dowel into existing concrete where needed so the new pour ties in cleanly instead of just butting up against it.
