What's included
Real grass is a tough sell in the high desert — low annual rainfall, restricted watering days from local water providers, and summer heat that browns out even well-watered lawns. Artificial turf gets you a lawn that stays green year-round without the water bill or the maintenance.
The base is what makes or breaks a turf install. We excavate 3-4 inches, compact a class II road base or decomposed granite base, and grade it for drainage so the yard doesn't pond during a monsoon downpour on the hardpan soil common across the Antelope Valley. A woven geotextile weed barrier goes down before the turf to keep growth from pushing through the seams over time.
Turf is seamed and secured with turf tape or adhesive at the seams and nailed on 6-inch centers around the perimeter, then infilled with sand — we offer an antimicrobial or pet-safe infill option for households with dogs. Pile height and face weight are matched to how the space is actually used: a play area gets a different spec than a side yard that's mostly for looks.
How it works
Step by step, here's what actually happens on site:
- 1Walk the yard, talk through pile height, infill type, and how the space will be used (kids, pets, entertaining).
- 2Excavate, grade for drainage, and compact the base.
- 3Lay geotextile fabric, roll out and seam the turf, then secure the perimeter.
- 4Brush in infill and give the turf a final grooming pass before walkthrough.
